A Steep Jupiter
This morning was a rough one. The plan was to activate Mt. Jupiter here in Southern California.
The trail going up to the summit is a washed out road. To top it off the incline must be 30 degrees – 45 degrees in some places. (that’s just a guesstimate)
Long story short I got about 3/4 up to the Jupiter summit and had to turn around. My body told me it was done and I could feel myself getting dehydrated. Keep in mind there were plenty of breaks going up. I just was not ready for a hike of this magnitude. On the way down I slid and fell about 4 times. This had me really worried. Luckily I made it back to the RAV4, polished off my Gatorades and drove home. For my next SOTA it will be shorter.
