Waterman

For the most part this was a great activation. The hike was beautiful, the weather was cool… almost too cool with the fog and drizzle. It’s a 3.2mi hike in/up. There are some switchbacks and the trail is easy until the very end when the incline gets steep. (hey I have bad hips) I set up next to some of the big rocks that were there and tried to get the HF antenna far away as I could from them.

There is one disadvatage with this summit. No cell reception. For me that can make of break an activation as I don’t have APRS to spot that way. So I threw a whip on the trusty ID-51A and tried some local contacts. Among those who I made contact with was Charles (KM6CEM). He was kind enough to spot me not only on 2 meters but 40 meters when I was really. Just another reason I love this hobby. Someone is always willing to help out.
SO anyways after I was done on 2 and 40 meters I decided to pack it up due to the weather which I was not dressed for. Thanks Chasers!
